Would you like to talk to other ham stations all over the world with you 2-meter or 70-centimeter transceiver? You might even be able to use your HT if you have number buttons and are able to bring up a certain IRLP repeater or simplex node. Your rig and the internet will enable you to talk to about 1,500 IRLP nodes around the world! The node numbers, location, and PL tone are listed under IRLP on the internet. How do you make the IRLP system work for you? 

1. Listen for about 10 seconds and then give your call sign and say you want to use the IRLP and punch in on your keypad the 4 digit node number you want to contact. You will need to know which node number to use before you start. 

2. Un-key and that particular node will identify itself and tell you it is "on-line" for your use. 

3. Wait about 15 seconds and give your call sign again and ask if anyone is on frequency. Un-key and listen. 

4. After several attempts and no reply, give your call sign again and bring the node down by punching in 73 on your keypad and un-key. The node will tell you it is being closed. 

5. You may want to re-key again, give your call sign, and thank them for the use of the IRLP system.
